I'm seriously debating on whether I should change the entire idea of the site. I want to keep the name, since I thought it was creative.
I'm trying to think of that one thing that would make my site fairly popular and has some meaning behind the name. Likewise you wouldn't make a site called winrejects and make it about how to change the oild in a car.
The past year it's been about nothing, seriously. I pushed the computer support thing and it sucked balls. I had like 20 posts total in the entire category, and over a thousand in off topic. That was over a long period. There were no new people, google has completely spidered my site, about 42k results on winrejects, great, but no one is coming.
So I have a few ideas. I want to find someone who is making something dealing with winmx, something that will make it big and I want it to be the primary source, not necessarly carrying the name of the site, it would be kinda weird, but more like a central place for people to go to get stuff for winmx. Problem, vladd and winmxworld pretty much have that soaked up. I'm not a programmer, so I can't make one of my own, and no one really needs anymore publicity on thier stuff, they already have 2, 3 places to go to.
I also thought about making it into a blog site, thats a winner. Where would I find the software to make this happen? If I can't, once again I'm not much of a programmer.
I sure as hell am not making it a personal web page, they suck, and I'm not forking out money for that when I can do that on my own computer.
I want to keep the site. But if I cant get anything to work, continuing to put money into it is foolish. I would really dislike having to do that.
Absoultely no one goes there anymore. Everyone is either busy with doing thier own thing, or lying telling me they're busy.
There's no way I can make any kind of tutorial on a useful program like winmx myself, plus my lack of knowledge on router and port issues which is what people tend to have with winmx.
I'm out of ideas. I mean when people go to look at the site they think it's neat, but i guess it's like those movies you see one time and thats it.
Anyone have any ideas?
As far as design goes, this is the proposed new design:

I'm out of ideas

You touched on it in your post, so I think you probably do realize this, but the name Winrejects has no search engine appeal. You may have 43,000 results come up, but nobody searches for the phrase "winrejects".
Just something to think about

the site is no primary search result. There are results on a lot of different topics but none are never going to be number one. My site isn't about anything. Now don't get offended by what im about to say because im trying to make a point. I'm not real cear on what cricketmx actually is some kind of html thingie, where ever the forums are there arent very many posts at all about it. I don't mean that in a bad way because even winmxcommunity was like that, and they had some serious numbers of people posting.
I know about the site not being about anything, I want to make it about something.
I thought making it into a blog would be a good idea. Not much I have to do, other than hope it doesn't get bigger than I can afford. I could get some of my users back right there, they all have some sort of myspace or xanga.
Hopefully I can get a hold of some decent software for it, something written in php and uses a mysql/mssql database, like BB's, well decent one use php, they do have some CGI's and they suck ass, they're always slow.
Upon making it a blog, I want to try to make it different from most. There has got to be something that people hate about any one of these blogs, wether it is the lack of ability to personalize it, search for people, or the excess junk that comes along with it.
I dont know it might be too early in the morning for me....

Take things one step at a time, don't worry about what could happen in a years time, or even 6 months. If it explodes and very popular, great! But worry about the hurdle when you have to. You should be striving to get to the stage where it is popular beyond belief, not worrying about what will happen if / when you get therewanabe wrote:I thought making it into a blog would be a good idea. Wordpress is a very popular, and customizable, blog software which uses PHP and MySQL.

I looked around, ended up with "Bblog" which looks nice but it only works for one person, me.
Does wordpress work with more than one person, like they sign up and make thier own stuff?
And could you perhaps point me to a link?

better than what i had previously tried. I might work as a start. Only thing is that it sticks posts by other users on one page. Otherwise its not bad. Although I havent explored all of it yet.

I dont think it will work well. Having one blog shared amoung users is only for small groups. Yeah I can do multiple installs, that eats up space and is annoying.
It is much closer than I was, but it probably wont work. It's not as controlable as I want it to be.
Anything else that is similar but has a seperate pages for each user?

You will probably need a custom script. Generally, blogs are for a single user.

And then I find out that WordPress is also avialable as a mutli-user. But they're unstable versions. I installed it last night, I wasnt aware about Virtual Server, apparently jon's is, but I didn't know that. Things have to be reset I guess cuz the installer wont come up.
It'll be fixed before too long. Then we'll be doing well. I might just rule the universe. That's right

Everytime I try to reply to one of your posts, I am hypnotized by the breasts.
Any way, there are many other blog software suites out there. Go to http://www.hotscripts.com and search for Blog under PHP. I've installed quite a few but none are what I am looking for so far.

WordPress Mu, would work great, but Jon's server doesn't support Virtual Host, and it screws up all to hell. Drupal is kinda weird, it has junk in it, junk that I dont want.
I really dont care if the urls for the users are username.blog.winrejects.net over blog.winrejects.net/username. Thats what the whole thing is over, plus a few other things.
People dont think outside the box. I dont know php very well, but if they would look at thier rivals like phpBB, take that and modify it and you got a blog. It would be more than a little, but if you pay attiention to how the forums go to threads and threads go to posts it would be a whole lot easier to make good blog software.
The whole subdomain stuff is nice, but it should be able to work without that option.
I think there might be one more piece of software I'll look at. The other one I was going to look at the site was down. Drupal is a little...gay...
I'll look at hotscripts, sometime.
The biggest issue is finding the software I want, it must be multi-user, the pages need to be customizable as far as colors and templates.
Drupal has a thing for books, well if I dont want that, I should be able to go to an admin pannel (or user pannel rather) and click something that says "Enable Books Yes/No" and choose No. A lot of the software does not give you those options, but plenty of crap.
WordPress would be the way to go, it allows "group blogging" like if I had a wife, me and my wife could blog on one site. You can send the blog and email and it will post it. Adding templates are easy.
I tried Word Press and the multi-user edition, both are the same, the multi-user has all the problems. I should have thought more about the "unstable" in the filename.
About the twins. How old are your kids? If they're 12 year old boys I'm sure they're seeking out some at thier school. Hell yours says crape scrotum, grab life by the balls. Although I suppose young kids probably have no idea what a scrotum is, let alone carpe diem...
